Article on Bangladeshis injured by Myanmar Navy refuted

A story in a Bangladeshi newspaper claiming that Bangladeshi fishermen were wounded by Myanmar Navy forces is false, the State Counsellor Office’s Information Committee said in a press release yesterday.

In the news report posted in the Dhaka-based Daily Star online media at 9:49 pm on December 27 under the headline “6 Bangladeshis shot in Myanmar firing at Bay”, it was claimed that Myanmar Navy Forces attacked a Bangladeshi fishing boat near the St. Martin Island in the Bay of Bengal on the morning of December 27, injuring 6 fishermen. The Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Navy) said it did not make any attacks on the ship, it is learnt.
