Under a combined program of Sports and Education, a Youth
Cycling Contest was held on 5th November, jointly organized by the Ministry of Health and Sports, Myanmar Cycling
Federation and Kayin State Government.
The 10 km round trip contest started
from Hpa-an clock tower and ended at Taung Kalay.
The contest aimed to provide a combined sport and education
program to promote cycling in Kayin State and to attract locals to become cyclists.
Students from Hpa-an, Hlaingbwe, Kawkareik, Myawaddy, and Papun townships
participated in the contest.
There were two categories; male and female. Among 51
contestants in the male event, Maung Sithu Hein of Kawkareik won the 1st prize.
Among 52 contestants in the female event, Ma Than Than Win of Kawkareik grabbed
the 1st prize.
Burma Ethnic Affairs Minister U Tae Za Htut Hlaing Htwe and
officials presented prizes to the winners.
