On 2 November, Myanmar and Oman signed an Air Services Agreement aimed at managing the aviation transport sector between the two countries and enhancing cooperation in civil aviation, according to a post on the Oman News Agency’s X page.
The agreement
seeks to expand air connectivity between Myanmar and Oman and create new
opportunities for collaboration in their air transport service sector.
It was signed
by Director-General U Zaw Zaw of Myanmar’s Department of Civil Aviation and
President Eng Naif bin Ali Al Abri of Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
The agreement
consists of 26 articles, along with an annex detailing air flight routes
between the two countries. It addresses various economic, regulatory, and
operational aspects related to air transport services.
Additionally,
the agreement establishes the necessary procedural framework for designated
airlines from each country to operate passenger and cargo flights smoothly,
while also opening up opportunities for code-sharing on joint flights.
The signing
of this agreement marks an important step in strengthening bilateral relations
between Myanmar and Oman in the civil aviation sector. Oman has concluded
bilateral air transport agreements with 135 countries.
