THE Government is prioritizing efforts to combat online fraud and online gambling as a national responsibility. To prevent the recurrence of online scam and gambling activities within illegal structures in the Shwe Kokko area, where such operations were heavily concentrated, systematic demolitions are being carried out to completely eradicate these buildings.
In
ongoing operations, one five-storey building among the remaining illegal
buildings in Shwe Kokko Phase II previously used for online fraud and gambling
was completely demolished using heavy machinery today. Additionally, the
mechanical demolition of another five-storey building was reported to be 70 per
cent complete as of yesterday.
Of
the 63 buildings scheduled for demolition in Shwe Kokko Phase II, operations
are categorized by building type: 25 buildings are slated for mechanical
demolition using heavy machinery, four buildings for controlled explosive
demolition, and 34 buildings located in proximity to residential homes for
manual floor-by-floor demolition using labour. To date, all four structures
slated for controlled implosion and three of the structures slated for
mechanical demolition have been brought down. Systematic demolition will
proceed for the remaining 56 buildings.
The
Government, recognizing online fraud and online gambling as threats to the
global socioeconomic fabric and national security, is collaborating closely
with neighbouring and regional nations to vigorously suppress and completely
eradicate these activities.
