The government has been treating the fight against online scams and online gambling as a national duty. In the Shwe Kokko area, where online scam and gambling operations were conducted on a large scale, illegal buildings are being systematically and permanently demolished to prevent such activities from resuming in these buildings.
As part of
these efforts, one five-storey building among the remaining illegal buildings
in Phase II of the Shwe Kokko area, which had been used for online scam and
gambling operations and was being demolished using machinery, was completely
demolished yesterday, reaching 100 per cent completion. The demolition of
another five-storey building reached 80 per cent completion as of yesterday.
A total of
63 remaining buildings in Phase II of the Shwe Kokko area that were used for
online scam and gambling operations have been classified according to the
demolition methods to be used: buildings to be demolished using machinery,
buildings to be demolished by controlled explosions, and buildings located too
close to residential homes that must be dismantled floor by floor using
manpower. Systematic demolition work is continuing. With one more five-storey
building demolished yesterday, 58 buildings remain to be demolished. The
remaining buildings will also be demolished systematically.
The
government is placing particular emphasis on working with neighbouring and
regional countries to crack down on online scams and online gambling, which
threaten global socioeconomic affairs and national security, intending to
eliminate these activities completely and permanently.
