The China-Myanmar Youth Exchange Event and the Third Quarter 2026 China-Myanmar Media Tea Party took place at the Centre for Research and Innovation of Yangon University yesterday.
An
introductory video about China was first screened. This was followed by welcome
remarks delivered by Dr Zheng Zhihong, Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of
the People’s Republic of China in Myanmar, Dr Thaung Htike, Rector of the
University of Yangon, MP U Aye Chan, a member of the International Relations
Committee of the Pyithu Hluttaw and Dr Naing Swe Oo, Senior Advisory Board
Member of Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies under the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The
attendees then continued the discussion regarding the role of the media and
young people in promoting regional stability, peace and mutual development, and
new ideas for continuing to build a community in which countries stand together
through thick and thin.
The
event served as a platform for exchanging views and ideas aimed at further
deepening and strengthening constructive cooperation between Myanmar and China,
enhancing friendship among the younger generations of the two countries, and
promoting people-to-people contact. Discussions also focused on future
exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the fields
of economy, trade, culture and media.
The
event also provided an opportunity for university students to gain a better
understanding of China’s culture and development, while promoting greater
cooperation among students and young people and between the media sectors of
Myanmar and China.
