KMAESS Debuts as Think Tank, Signs MoU with Super Seven Star Group

 

U Myo Myint Maung, Chargé d’Affaires/ Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the Republic of Korea, remarked that the Korea-Myanmar Association for Economic & Security Studies (KMAESS) will serve as an important bridge to further strengthen friendship and cooperation between the two countries, during the inaugural business forum marking the establishment of KMAESS, held on 15 September at LS Tower (MIR Hall) in Seoul.

KMAESS and Myanmar’s Super Seven Star Group of Companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on general economic cooperation, establishing a practical framework for future collaboration.

Myanmar is attracting foreign direct investment, and the head of state is actively welcoming foreign investors, he emphasized.

KMAESS Chairman Mr Choi Shin Il expressed gratitude for the support in establishing the association and organising the forum, and presented a “Certificate of Appreciation” to Ambassador U Myo Myint Maung for his active cooperation.

Dr Wah Wah Maung, former Union Minister of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations; Dr Htein Lin, Director-General of the Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization under the Ministry of Commerce; and U Aye Win, President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) delivered video messages of appreciation, respectively. Daw Win Pa Pa Thu, Economic Counsellor at the Myanmar Embassy in Seoul, presented on “The Business Environment and Future Prospects for MyanmarKorea Economic Cooperation,” covering Myanmar’s investment climate, bilateral trade, and opportunities to expand cooperation, including in the rice bran oil production sector. Korean entrepreneurs also raised questions about business and investment procedures in Myanmar, which the Economic Counsellor addressed.

KMAESS is a nonprofit, officially recognised think tank established with approval from South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources (MOTIR). It aims to deepen economic security understanding and cooperation between Korea and Myanmar, promote research and policy exchanges, and foster mutually beneficial partnerships.
