A poultry farm operated by Ngasu Taung Co Ltd in Hlegu Township, Yangon Region, is producing and distributing 120,000 eggs and 4,000 viss of chicken daily to help meet food supply needs in Yangon Region.
“The
Yangon Region government is supporting livestock businesses to maintain stable
production and ensure food security. According to Dr Aung Myo Han, Director of
the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department of Yangon Region, poultry
farms are being supervised to ensure production follows proper livestock
farming practices, including the use of quality breeds, systematic feed
management, disease prevention and control, proper record-keeping and the
development of consumer-friendly markets.
There
are currently more than 2.6 million hens at 326 commercial layer farms and more
than 6.6 million broiler chickens at 1,282 commercial broiler farms across
Yangon Region. Hlegu and Hmawby townships are the main poultry-producing areas.
The
Ngasu Taung poultry farm in Hlegu Township has 150,000 broilers and 150,000
layers and produces 120,000 eggs and 4,000 viss of chicken daily. In addition,
13 Myanmar Green Light poultry farms produce more than 58,000 eggs daily. These
farms, together with other poultry farms, supply the Yangon consumer market and
help meet local food demand.
