UNION Minister for Labour U Khin Maung Soe, who is in Bangkok, Thailand, to attend the 29th ASEAN Labour Ministers’ Meeting and related meetings, met Thai Minister of Labour Mr Julapun Amornvivat at the Dusit Thani Hotel on the evening of 25 August to discuss bilateral labour issues.
The two sides discussed
lists of Myanmar workers in Thailand by occupation, facilitating legal family
remittances, expanding Certificate of Identity (CI) issuance centres,
introducing a U-turn process for Myanmar workers who have completed four years
of continuous employment under the MoU system, ensuring Myanmar workers receive
their social security benefits, signing an agreement between the two countries’
social security organizations, and establishing a Temporary Data Collection
Centre (TDCC) to issue Myanmar passports.
The meeting was
attended by Myanmar Ambassador U Zaw Zaw Soe, Director-General of the
Department of Labour U Kyaw Kyaw Lwin, members of the Myanmar delegation and
Thai labour officials.
The Myanmar delegation
will also attend the 14th ASEAN+3 Labour Ministers’ Meeting and bilateral
meetings between labour ministers.
