TATMADAW columns conducting security measures in Laikha of Shan State (south) arrested 17 Chinese men involved in online gambling at about 2,500 metres southeast of Seesaw village in Laikha yesterday. Offenders were arrested together with one temporary tarpaulin-covered workshop measuring 50 feet long, 20 feet wide and 15 feet high, one temporary residential tarpaulin shelter measuring 60 feet long, 20 feet wide and 15 feet high; one temporary kitchen shelter measuring 15 feet long, 15 feet wide and 10 feet high, one temporary residential tarpaulin shelter measuring 30 feet long, 20 feet wide and 15 feet high, 10 Starlink sets, two Starlink dishes, 25 laptops, six power stations, six Wi-Fi U6 Pro devices, one medium-sized freezer, plastic tables and chairs, and two generators.
Tatmadaw columns subsequently conducted security operations around the area. As a result, another 11 illegal Chinese male nationals involved in online scam and gambling activities were arrested at a location about 2,000 metres southeast of Seesaw Village, while another six illegal Chinese male nationals linked to such activities were arrested at a location about 1,700 metres south of the village. A total of 34 illegal Chinese male nationals involved in online scam and gambling activities were therefore arrested.
Offenders will face action under the existing law after proper examination, and the seized materials will be managed in accordance with the procedures.
