THE government is inviting those involved in various armed groups, including PDFs, to return to the legal fold. Those who do so are being provided with necessary assistance and support.
A total of 20 PDFs including 18 males and two females entered the legal fold yesterday.
The 20 individuals from Yedashe, Nattalin, Okpo, and Nyaunglebin townships of Bago Region entered the legal framework and were accepted by responsible officials.
At the handover ceremony, PDF members were handed over to their parents and guardians at Ayechanphyo Hall of the Southern Command Headquarters yesterday.
At the event, the commander gave an opening speech and briefed on legal matters.
The returnees handed over three MA-1 rifles, three M-4 rifles, one BA63, one Energa grenade, three hand grenades, 322 rounds of 5.56-mm ammunition, 140 rounds of 7.62-mm ammunition, 13 bullets and five magazines to the commander. The commander and officials then presented K35 million for seven rifles, K300,000 for one Energa grenade, K900,000 for three hand grenades, and K4 million for the 20 returnees at K200,000 each, bringing the total reward money to K40.2 million.
