11 foreign nationals transferred over telecom fraud links

A total of 11 foreign nationals linked to online gambling, telecommunications fraud and other criminal activities in the Myawady-Shwe Kokko area have been handed over to their respective countries.

The 11 nationals – four Pakistanis, three Indians, two Filipinos, one Cameroonian and one Kenyan – were transferred in accordance with legal procedures and on humanitarian and friendly-cooperation grounds. Authorities stated that a total of 14,760 foreign nationals who had illegally entered Myawady Township between 30 January 2025 and 15 August 2026 had been detained and processed. Of these, 13,820 had been repatriated to their respective countries via Thailand.

Another 216 foreign nationals are awaiting transfer, while 724 remain subject to legal action for violations of Myanmar’s immigration and drug-related laws.
