Yenangyoung’s solar-powered water supply project inspected

Officials inspected the progress of the solar-powered water supply project being implemented in Saltine Village, Sal Village-Tract, Yenangyoung Township, yesterday. The project is being carried out by the Department of Rural Development under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, Yenangyoung Township, Chauk District, Magway Region, with funding allocated by the Union Government for the 2026-2027 financial year.

During the field inspection, U Aye Htun Min, Head of the Yenangyoung Township Department of Rural Development, together with engineering staff, company officials, and members of the village water supply committee, inspected the ongoing implementation of the solar-powered water supply project in Saltine Village. The township head instructed those responsible to ensure that the project is completed on schedule and in line with the prescribed standards and specifications.

The project includes drilling a tube well with a diameter of 4.5 inches and a depth of 400 feet, constructing a 5,000-gallon brick water reservoir, installing a 6.96 kW solar-powered water pumping system, and building a 120-foot perimeter fence. These works are being implemented during the current financial year with a Union Government budget allocation of K68.464 million by Zenith Creative Construction Co Ltd, commencing in the fourth week of June 2026, and approximately 60 per cent of the work has now been completed.
Upon completion of the project, a total of 117 households with a population of 662 people from Saltine Village will have sufficient access to safe drinking water throughout the year.
