Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker meets Chin State Hluttaw Speaker

 

Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U Khin Yi met the observer team led by the Speaker of the Chin State Hluttaw at the Pyithu Hluttaw Building in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.

During the meeting, the Speaker stated that the Union-level Hluttaws legislate in accordance with Schedule 1 of the 2008 Constitution, while the Region and State Hluttaws legislate according to Schedule 2. He noted that the State and Region Hluttaws play a key role in building a federal democratic system, which is the nation’s goal. He also mentioned the role of Hluttaw, enactment of Myanmar Parliamentary Law and formation of Myanmar Parliamentary Union (MPU).

He stated the broadcasting activities of Hluttaws on website and social media, invitation to people to study the Hluttaw, and added that the Hluttaws are members of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). To enhance cooperation with international parliaments, joint committees for AIPA and IPU affairs have been formed.

The Chin State Hluttaw Speaker reported on Hluttaw meetings and ongoing activities.

Pyithu Hluttaw Deputy Speaker U Maung Maung Ohn and officials from the Pyithu Hluttaw Office were also present on the occasion.
