AT the invitation of Mr Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, U Tin Maung Swe, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, paid an official visit to Thailand from 13 to 14 July 2026.
During the
visit, on the afternoon of 14 July 2026, the Union Minister paid a courtesy
call on Mr Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, at
the Government House in Bangkok. During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed that
Myanmar and Thailand enjoy good neighbourly relations bound by centuries-old
friendship. They exchanged views on enhancing cooperation on matters of mutual
interest for the two countries and their peoples, as well as on strengthening
cooperation in maintaining peace, stability and security along the common
border.
On the same
day, the Union Minister attended a working luncheon hosted by the Deputy Prime
Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand at the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs of Thailand. During the luncheon, the two sides discussed ways to
further strengthen cooperation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs,
enhance cooperation in promoting peace and stability along the border,
combating illicit drugs, reducing transboundary haze pollution, protecting the
environment, and facilitating border trade.
Earlier that
morning, the Union Minister signed the Condolence Book opened at the Grand
Palace in Bangkok on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother
and Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha.
