THE Department of Rural Development under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development and the International Poverty Reduction Centre in China (IPRCC) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China are jointly conducting the initial assessment for the East-Asia Poverty Reduction Cooperation Project in Myanmar (Phase II). A delegation led by IPRCC Director Mr Tong Lang is carrying out preliminary assessments in Myanmar to prepare for the implementation of the project.
On the
afternoon of 11 July, the delegation met officials from the Ayeyawady Region
Department of Rural Development at the Zalun Township Rural Development
Department office and held detailed discussions on the arrangements for
conducting the initial assessment.
On 13 July,
the delegation visited Anyasu Village in Zalun Township, Ayeyawady Region,
which has been selected as a target area for the project. They met residents to
discuss the village’s actual needs in improving living standards, promoting
socioeconomic development, education, healthcare and environmental
conservation. The delegation also conducted field inspections and reviewed the
findings from the visit.
The
delegation will continue conducting initial assessments in selected villages
for project implementation in Nay Pyi Taw and hold further discussions and
consultations with relevant officials on the findings throughout the assessment
process.
