Golden Lotus Robes Offered to Maravijaya Buddha Image

 

A ceremony to offer golden lotus robes to the Maravijaya Buddha Image marked the second cleansing of the whole Maravijaya Buddha Image and the third anniversary of the consecration of the Buddha image yesterday morning.

President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing and his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla attended the gala ceremony.

The President and his wife offered alms in the emerald alms-bowl, fruits, flowers, water and oil lights to Maravijaya Buddha Image and offered golden lotus robes.

Disciples conveyed the golden lotus robes onto the scaffolding of the image. The President himself offered golden lotus robes to the Maravijaya Buddha Image and sprinkled scented water on it.

The President and his wife, who led the congregation, shared merits gained.

The President and his wife beat the Saddhadhipati Bell on the platform of the image nine times to share merits gained.

Also present at the ceremony were Vice-President U Nyo Saw and his wife, Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U Khin Yi and his wife, Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker U Aung Lin Dwe and his wife, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services General Ye Win Oo and his wife, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services General Kyaw Swa Lin and his wife, Union ministers and their wives, the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, deputy ministers and officials.
