NSPNC holds peace talks with NDAA and UWSP

 

A delegation led by Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, Chairman of the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC), held peace talks with a delegation led by U Htein Lin, Chairman of the National Democratic Alliance Army (NDAA), in Mongla, Shan State, on 17 June.

During the meeting, Lt-Gen Yar Pyae discussed the new government’s invitation to peace talks and the peace process to be pursued going forward. In response, the NDAA Chairman expressed his great joy and pride over President U Min Aung Hlaing’s assumption of office. He stated that the NDAA highly appreciates the President’s emphasis on peace, national reconciliation, education, economic development, and socioeconomic stability as priorities of the new government. In particular, he said that the NDAA stands ready to cooperate constructively and actively in advancing peace and national reconciliation as key priorities. He added that, by consistently pursuing a path of peace, unity, and development, the NDAA will contribute to the best of its ability towards safeguarding state sovereignty, strengthening ethnic solidarity, achieving national peace, and promoting the development of border areas.

Subsequently, NDAA Vice-Chairman U San Pae provided an update on ongoing regional development activities.

The participants then held discussions on peace and development, shortages of teachers and healthcare personnel, agriculture and livestock farming, efforts to combat narcotics, online scams, and online gambling, the suppression of transnational crime, the facilitation of transportation and commodity flows, and the peace process to be pursued going forward.

On 18 June, the delegation led by Lt-Gen Yar Pyae went to Panghsan, Shan State, where it held talks with a delegation that included U Kyauk Kaw Ann, Vice-Chairman of the United Wa State Party (UWSP), and other senior leaders.

During the meeting, the NSPNC Chairman discussed the formation of three peace committees, the status of the peace invitation, and the peace process to be pursued going forward. In response, the Vice-Chairman of the UWSP outlined his organization’s position and perspectives, reaffirming its commitment to upholding the principles of non-disintegration of the Union and non-disintegration of national solidarity. He also expressed the organization’s desire to further advance the peace process, improve public livelihoods under the leadership of the President and the new Union Government, resolve differences through political dialogue, and promote regional development.

Subsequently, the participants exchanged views on current political developments, peace efforts, border stability and development, and the implementation of political objectives aimed at achieving further progress beyond the current situation, according to reports.
