During his State visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing and his delegation yesterday visited several high-tech companies in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, to observe developments in electric vehicles, sustainable materials and robotics.
The delegation first toured Zhejiang Leapmotor Technology Co Ltd, where they were welcomed by chairman Zhu Jiangming and company officials. President U Min Aung Hlaing was briefed on the firm’s history, production capabilities, vehicle assembly processes and electric vehicle manufacturing operations. Company representatives said Leapmotor has invested in more than 50 firms involved in research and component production, manufactures around 65 per cent of its vehicle parts in-house, and aims to increase that figure to 80 per cent. The company is currently among China’s leading electric vehicle manufacturers and is expanding exports, with a target of exporting more than 100,000 vehicles in 2026. In 2025, the company exported over 60,000 vehicles. After the briefing, the two sides exchanged commemorative gifts.
The Myanmar delegation then visited
Zhejiang Qingshi New Material Technology Co Ltd, where chairman Du Guofeng
introduced the company’s bamboo fibre production process. Officials explained
how selected bamboo is processed using biological rather than chemical methods
to create fibres that are blended into yarns, textiles, garments and consumer
products. The company, based in Hangzhou’s Xiaoshan District, specializes in
high-quality bamboo fibre products and produced 18,000 tonnes of naturally
antibacterial bamboo fibre in 2025. President U Min Aung Hlaing also observed
the manufacturing process, signed the company’s guestbook and exchanged gifts
with the chairman.
In the afternoon, the delegation visited Unitree Robotics Co Ltd, where
chairman Wang Xingxing and company officials welcomed the visitors. A robot
produced by the company greeted the President with a message written in Myanmar
language. The delegation observed demonstrations of quadruped and humanoid
robots, as well as AI-powered systems designed for industrial, domestic and
disaster-response applications. The robots also performed traditional Myanmar
and Chinese dances and demonstrated boxing and service functions.
Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Hangzhou, Unitree Robotics is internationally known for developing advanced quadruped and humanoid robots. Company officials said it places strong emphasis on technological innovation and develops key components, AI technologies and motion-control algorithms in-house.
At the conclusion of the visit, the chairman of Unitree Robotics presented the President with a specially designed robot as a commemorative gift, while President U Min Aung Hlaing presented return gifts before the two sides exchanged farewells.
