Myanmar-BRICS media ties to foster deeper relations

The mutual exchange of information within the information and media sector between Myanmar and BRICS member countries, including Russia, will further strengthen relations among nations and increasingly promote mutual understanding among their peoples, Union Minister for Information U Htein Linn stated yesterday during an interview with the TV BRICS news agency in Saint Petersburg, the Russian Federation.

He also stated that, in line with the saying, “The media is a tool for shaping public opinion,” the media not only influences public perceptions but also serves as a bridge for cultural exchange and mutual understanding among nations. He further noted that collaboration with BRICS countries in developing digital infrastructure and cultivating human resources could help improve the socioeconomic well-being of the people.

The Union minister mentioned that, as the ministry is making multifaceted efforts to develop the country’s media sector and strengthen friendships with partner nations, cooperation with the Russian Federation in the media sector plays an important role. He added that, to further promote cooperation in the information and news media sectors between the two countries, they are working with Russian state-owned television stations to exchange information and mutually share and broadcast documentaries and cultural programmes.
