80 assorted landmines cleared from Kanma-Myaing road in Myaing Township

 


ACCORDING to the information from duty conscientious residents, security forces conduct mine clearance activities along Kanma-Myaing road in Pakokku Township as PDF terrorists plant land mines made of oil barrels in the pits on the road, intending that people face difficulties in travelling.

The security forces uncovered 20 large landmines, 17 homemade directional mines, 15 homemade improvised anti-vehicle mines, eight improvised explosive mines, six homemade mines made of PVC pipes, 12 locally made landmines, and two M-14 mines, totalling 80 assorted mines on both sides of Kanma-Myaing road between Hninsikan and Thayetkan villages in Myaing Township on 19 June. They defused these mines and systematically removed the positions. Moreover, they cleared mines around 12 feet long and 28 feet wide damaged bridge near Thayetkan Village and repaired it for safety travels of people.

Security forces are continuing to take necessary security measures in order to identify and arrest the terrorists who planted mine and committed explosive attacks targeting major roads and railway lines used by the public, and to take effective legal action against them in accordance with the law.
