Three Shwe Kokko scam hubs demolished

 

The Government of Myanmar has deployed a joint team comprising security forces, administrative bodies and local authorities to raid illegal buildings in the Shwe Kokko and KK Park areas, where telecom fraud and online gambling activities have been operating, and to systematically dismantle confiscated materials and demolish illegal structures used for such activities.

Three four-storey residential buildings – out of 77 buildings used for online scam and gambling operations in the Shwe Kokko area – were systematically demolished using machinery and equipment yesterday. This brings the total number of demolished buildings to six, leaving 71 illegal buildings still to be demolished. The remaining structures will continue to be systematically demolished.

The government considers the eradication of telecom fraud and online gambling crimes a national responsibility and will continue its efforts, in coordination not only with domestic forces but also with the governments of neighbouring countries, to ensure that such activities can no longer operate within Myanmar.
