COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF of Defence Services General Ye Win Oo inspected the general staff, adjutant and quartermaster measures of the Eastern Command Headquarters, and efforts to take security measures and uphold the rule of law yesterday morning.
Accompanied
by Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Htein Win, Commander-in-Chief (Air) Lt-Gen
Tun Win and senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief,
the General heard reports on the security, control of the region and rule of
law in the command area, and general staff, adjutant and quartermaster measures
of the command headquarters by the Eastern Command Commander at the briefing
hall.
In
his speech, the General stressed the need to carry out the tasks of peace and
stability of the region, and development undertakings in cooperation with
residents. He urged officials to train individual Tatmadaw members to have good
morality and concepts, as well as to obey discipline.
Yesterday
morning, the General held a meeting with Tatmadaw members and families of
Taunggyi Station at the hall of the command headquarters and those from
Hsihseng and Banyin stations at the hall of the local battalion separately.
These
meetings were also attended by Daw Nilar, the wife of the General, the
Commander-in-Chief (Navy) and his wife, the Commander-in-Chief (Air) and his
wife, and senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief.
Speaking
on the occasion, the General underscored that fairly conquering the fighting
will earn the trust and reliance of the people, and since the Tatmadaw is the
country’s last line of defence, it must be built into a firm institution.
He
noted that Tatmadaw had been ready to timely prevent the danger of
disintegration of the State whenever the State experienced crises. Based on
patriotism and love for Tatmadaw, it is necessary to be loyal to oneself, loyal
to one’s family, loyal to one’s community, and loyal to Tatmadaw and the State.
With
regard to cultivating a combat spirit, the General highlighted that it is not
enough to be skilled in warfare alone. Tatmadaw members must also develop the
right mindsets. Therefore, to ensure courage in battle and a strong morale,
arrangements must be made so that soldiers and their families do not have to
worry about food, clothing, housing, or daily living needs. Their profession is
to fight, and in order to do so, they must possess strong and highly developed
military capabilities.
He
underlined that students who are family members of Tatmadaw personnel are
required to pursue and complete at least KG+9 education. Those who have
completed KG+9 may also continue their studies at technical institutes, as well
as agricultural institutes and livestock institutes. If the education level of
those children improves, they will be able to contribute to the country in
various ways.
He
pointed out that acts of betrayal against the State and Tatmadaw, financial
misconduct, social misconduct, and drug-related offences are not tolerable.
Soldiers must obey orders, and those orders must be lawful and just.
He
urged responsible officials to inspect and carry out necessary repairs to
ensure that basic needs such as water supply, electricity, and sanitation are
properly provided for comfortable living for Tatmadaw members without
difficulties. In addition, arrangements should be made so that Tatmadaw members
can report and submit their difficulties.
The
General spotted that commanding officers of battalions and their wives are
regarded as the parents of the battalions, and although officers’ wives who
live with the unit are expected to support their husbands’ duties, they must
not interfere in official matters.
The
General expressed his recognition of the female military personnel as a
component of the Tatmadaw’s strength. It is necessary to foster a sense of
brotherhood and treat them as colleagues, supporting and assisting one another.
He noted that Female servicemembers should also avoid any behaviour, speech, or
conduct that could damage the reputation of their surroundings or their
organization.
He
underlined that the wives of Tatmadaw members are considered the reserve
strength of Tatmadaw, and there are records of their courageous participation
in counterattacks against the enemies in incidents such as Shaduzup, Kongyan,
Lupi, and Weinkaung.
He
recounted that the Hsihseng area was subjected to a surprise attack by
terrorists, and due to the counteroffensive by Tatmadaw members and their
families from the respective stations, stability and peace in the area were
restored. So, he stated that all those who participated are hereby recorded and
commended.
After
the speeches, the General fulfilled the requirements of Tatmadaw members and
families in coordination with officials.
The
General and his wife presented foodstuffs for Tatmadaw members and families and
cash awards for maternal and child welfare associations through officials.
After
the meetings, the General and party inspected regiments and units in Hsihseng
and Banyin stations by car and cordially greeted families.
