MRESA launches AML/CFT, FATF training for Yangon realty agents

 



The Myanmar Real Estate Services Association (MRESA) held the opening ceremony of a multiplier training programme on AML/CFT and FATF-related knowledge for real estate agents at Sky Star Hotel in Tamway Township, Yangon, yesterday morning.

The training covers the duties and responsibilities of real estate agents under AML/CFT frameworks, reporting procedures, and cooperation with relevant supervisory authorities, as well as the FATF global standards, methodology, and procedures.

At the ceremony, the Chair of the Pyithu Hluttaw Bill Committee and Vice-Chair of the Joint Bill Committee of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, Dr Nanda Kyaw Swa delivered the opening remarks, followed by a welcome speech from MRESA (Central) Chair U Khin Maung Than.

The President of the Thai Real Estate Broker Association, Mr Prawitt Anusiri, gave a knowledge-sharing presentation on AML/CFT compliance by estate agents, including reporting to the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) and cooperation with government authorities.

The MRESA (Central) Third Vice-Chair, U Kyaw Tint, explained AML/CFT duties, reporting systems, and FATF standards, while Yangon Region Real Estate Services Association Chair Daw Myat Mo Mo outlined action plans and progress reports implemented in cooperation with the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) during the period 2020-2026.

Representatives from township-level associations also demonstrated practical reporting processes, including monthly and quarterly submissions, as well as Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), and reporting systems such as TTR and STR, before the ceremony concluded.
