Legal Experts Urged to Modernize Outdated Laws

 



EFFORTS must be made to ensure that the people can live peacefully and safely under legal protection and enjoy the improvement of their interests, said U Khin Yi, Speaker of the Pyithu Hluttaw, at the meeting with Yangon Region Hluttaw Speaker U Htay Aung, Deputy Speaker U Kyaw Kyaw Soe, members of the Committee for Assessment of Legal Affairs and Special Issues and the Bill Committee and legal experts yesterday afternoon.

At the Pearl Hall of the Yangon Region Hluttaw, the Pyithu Speaker heard the reports on the formation of the Committee for Assessment of Legal Affairs and Special Issues by the Region Hluttaw Speaker.

On the occasion, the Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker urged the legal experts to provide recommendations and discussions regarding the amendment, supplementation, or replacement of existing laws that are no longer in line with the times, as well as the enactment of new laws that should be introduced in accordance with contemporary conditions.

He stressed that efforts must be made to ensure that the people can live peacefully and safely under legal protection and enjoy the improvement of their interests.

He noted that it is necessary to enact laws that are required to safeguard the national interests of the country in regional and international relations.

Currently, he continued that priority will be given to promptly enacting an anti-online scam law that is aligned with the current situation of the State.

The Region Hluttaw Speaker, the Deputy Speaker, members of the Bill Committee and the Committee for Assessment of Legal Affairs and Special Issues, as well as retired legal experts, discussed the legislative measures in their respective sectors. The Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker reviewed their discussions.

The Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker cordially conversed with Hluttaw representatives who are attending the workshop on project, budget and monetary management at the training hall of the Region Hluttaw Office.
