THE Department of Religious Affairs has announced that the exhibition marking the 70th Anniversary of the Sixth Buddhist Synod, currently being held at the Maha Pasana Cave on Kaba Aye Hill in Mayangon Township, Yangon Region, since 30 April, will be extended until 10 May and will continue to open daily from 9 am to 5 pm.
“This exhibition features photographs and videos of the Sixth Buddhist Synod held from 1954 to 1956, records of the buildings associated with its inauguration and their maintenance status, and more than 500 scanned copies from the 31 volumes of the Pitaka compiled at the Synod. It also includes a commemorative stone pillar, historical literary records, and books containing poems, articles and documents published to mark the 70th anniversary. In addition, there are exhibits related to the Synod and seven types of postage stamps issued to commemorate the anniversary.
The commemorative shop sells T-shirts, mugs and key chains, as well as Buddhist-related materials, including quizzes on the history of the Sixth Buddhist Synod and presentations of recitation results,” said an official from the Department of Religious Affairs.
The ceremony marking the 70th Anniversary of the Sixth Buddhist Synod was held at the Maha Pasana Cave on Kaba Aye Hill in Yangon from 30 April to 2 May.
