A total of 146 PDF members 133 males and 13 females entered the legal fold yesterday.
The
handover ceremony took place at Zeyathiri Hall of the North-West Command
Headquarters with the attendance of Sagaing Region Chief Minister U Ko Lay,
Commander Maj-Gen Kyaw Thura and other relevant officials.
The
commander accepted five homemade pistols, six automatic rifles and two
walkie-talkies.
The
chief minister and the commander presented K2.5 million for five pistols, K30
million for six rifles, K400,000 for two walkie-talkies and K1.9 million for
individual returnees, totalling K34.8 million and supplies for the returnees.
Those
who re-entered the legal fold were required to sign pledges, after which they
were systematically handed back to their parents and guardians.
Similarly,
the relevant officials handed over 66 PDF members 61 males and five females who
re-returned with one pistol, nine rifles and 71 grenades at Aung Sit Thi Hall
in Sagaing, whereas another 43 PDFs: 40 males and three females together with
17 rifles, two grenades and one mine at Aung San Hall in Kalay township, and 18
PDF members 16 males and two females with one grenade at Aung Zeya Hall in
Shwebo township, respectively.
The
relevant officials presented K500,000 for one pistol, K130 million for 26
rifles, K21.9 million for 73 grenades, K300,000 for one mine, and K12.7 million
for returnees and supplies to the returnees.
These
146 returnees who rejoined the society are from different townships of Sagaing
Region.
There
are still individuals who wish to re-enter the legal fold. Those who intend to
do so are urged to promptly contact and report to the nearest district or
township administrative bodies, military units, or police stations, where they
will be welcomed back and provided with necessary assistance. Appropriate cash
rewards will be granted for the arms and ammunition.
