Due to the ongoing armed conflict in the Middle East, the Ministry of Energy is monitoring, supervising, and regulating to ensure that fuel consumption within Myanmar does not face difficulties.
On 12 March,
the system for scanning barcodes for vehicles and issuing QR codes for
motorcycles was implemented, with coordination among relevant departments to
resolve any difficulties and noting the public’s understanding and cooperation.
During this
process, instructions have been issued to filling stations, and inspections are
being conducted to ensure compliance.
Based on
detailed public complaints, the relevant shops were inspected, and their sales
licences were suspended.
To make fuel
purchases more convenient, a system incorporating barcodes and QR codes will be
implemented next week, allowing customers to buy fuel once or twice per week
based on their vehicle’s engine capacity.
The State has
already stockpiled 50 days’ worth of fuel and arranged for imports through
alternative channels in addition to the regular routes, and the public is
advised to refrain from purchasing fuel out of concern, but to report any
irregularities in fuel sales by contacting the relevant phone numbers and
submitting accurate complaints.
