To facilitate the marriages under the Christian Marriage Act, the meeting between the Registrar-General and the Licence Holders of Marriages was held in person and virtually at the Meeting Room of the office of the Union Judiciary Supervision of the Supreme Court of the Union on 25 February.
Registrar-General
Daw Tin Nwe Soe, Director-General of the Union Judiciary Supervision, delivered
her opening address on: granting licences by the Supreme Court of the Union to
Ministers of Religion and any Christian to solemnize marriages under Sections 6
and 9 of the Christian Marriage Act; appointing Registrar-General and
Registrars of Marriages under Section 7; issuing notification and directives
for application licences and solemnizing the marriages; issuance of the
Directive 1/2026 to solemnize the marriages for prevention to deception of
fake-marriage of foreigners with Myanmar women during their short stay in some
trafficking in persons cases; and facilitating and solemnizing of marriage
process under the law. And Deputy Director-General U Aung Kyaw Moe and Director
Daw Thuzar Aung explained the legal processes and issues, and a Q&A session
was held between the discussants and participants.
At
the meeting, 15 licence holders under the Christian Marriage Act attended in
person, and four licence holders via videoconferencing. The meeting then
concluded.
