Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and State Security and Peace Commission Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by Prime Minister U Nyo Saw, Commission Secretary General Ye Win Oo, the chief minister of Yangon Region, the commander of Yangon Command, and the Yangon mayor, yesterday morning visited the Sitagu International Missionary, Sitagu International Buddhist Academy and Sitagu Sakkhu Dana Hospital in Dagon Myothit (North) Township, Yangon Region, and paid homage to State Ovadacariya, 16th Shwegyin Sangharaja Chancellor of Sitagu International Buddhist Academies Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Aggamaha Saddhammajotika Dr Bhaddanta Nyanissara.
The Senior
General, the Prime Minister and the Commission Secretary provided glasses for
the people who have received eye surgery at the Sitagu Sakkhu Dana Hospital and
comforted them.
The Senior
General also cordially greeted the people who were waiting to receive eye
surgery operations at the hospital.
The Senior
General paid homage to Sitagu Sayadaw, supplicated religious affairs and
listened to the Ovada Katha of the Sayadaw, who gave Dhamma gifts.
On the
occasion, the Senior General donated alms and K30 million to be spent on
repairing projects of the Buddha relics enshrined in the pagodas damaged by the
powerful Mandalay earthquake.
Some 1,600
patients receive eye tests at the Sitagu Sakkhu Dana Hospital, some 500 of who
need to undergo eye surgery. The hospital provides free eye surgery for the
people.
