The Ninth State Central Working Committee of the Sangha held its second meeting at Maha Pasana Cave on Thiri Mingala Kaba Aye Hill in Mayangon Township, Yangon Region, yesterday morning.
The
meeting was attended by the State Ovadacariya Sayadaws, the State Sangha Maha
Nayaka Committee member Sayadaws, Sayadaws from the State Central Working
Committee, the Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture, U Tin Oo Lwin,
the Director-General of the Department of Religious Affairs, the
Director-General of the Department for the Promotion and Propagation of the
Sasana, the Pro-Rector (Administration) of the International Theravada Buddhist
Missionary University, and the Regional and State Religious Officers.
The
meeting was presided over by Committee Chairman Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru
Aggamaha Saddhammajotikadhaja Dr Bhaddanta Candima Bhivamsa, while Joint
Secretary Sayadaw Aggamaha Pandita Bhaddanta Sihanada acted as master of
ceremonies.
The
Chairman Sayadaw then presented religious certificates to 24 monks from the
State Central Working Committee of the Sangha and recognition certificates to
Dhammaduta Chekinda University, and Sitagu Ketumati Buddhist University as
Buddhist universities.
Representative
Sayadaws then signed the religious historical record book concerning the
replacements, decisions, approvals, and records made at the second meeting of
the Ninth State Central Working Committee of the Sangha.
The
Chairman Sayadaw delivered the Uyojana Katha and concluded the meeting.
Senior
General Than Shwe (Rtd) and his wife Daw Kyaing Kyaing, donated alms to the
Sayadaws.
