The government, Tatmadaw, and local communities have continued their coordinated efforts to reopen schools, ensuring the rapid resumption of education in Kyaukme Township of northern Shan State.Following the reopening of the No 1 Basic Education High School on 8 October, No 4 Basic Education High School and No 4 Basic Education Middle School on 15 October, the Naungpain Basic Education High School was reopened yesterday, bringing the total number of reopened schools in Kyaukme to four.
School enrolments have continued, with 589 more students registered yesterday, bringing the total to 3,636 students now attending classes peacefully and steadily. The newly enrolled students received free school textbooks, stationery, and other necessary materials provided by the Ministry of Education, while departmental officials offered further assistance as required.
Meanwhile, officials from the Ministry of Immigration and Population have been verifying household lists and issuing citizenship scrutiny cards for returning residents in Kyaukme.
Security forces have been conducting mine clearance operations around departmental offices and public areas in Kyaukme, ensuring safety for the population. Tatmadaw and Ministry of Health’s medical teams have also jointly opened a temporary hospital at the Labha Muni Chinese Temple to provide healthcare services. Yesterday, 91 outpatients reportedly received medical treatment, while one patient requiring admission was also given appropriate care.
