Union Minister for Industry Dr Charlie Than inspected the completed restoration of buildings and equipment at the Intravenous Solution Manufacturing Department, which had been damaged by the Mandalay earthquake, as well as the resumption of intravenous solution production, during his visit yesterday morning to the Pharmaceutical Factory (Inyaung) in Kyaukse, Mandalay Region.
The Union minister then met with
the Managing Director, General Managers the Factory Manager, and Department
Heads at the factory meeting hall. He emphasized the need to strictly follow
good manufacturing practices, as the facility produces pharmaceuticals. He also
stressed that restoration and installation of machinery in seismic zones must
comply with FEMA guidelines, and clear protocols should be established for
building or rebuilding pharmaceutical factories locally. Plans should be
methodically developed and implemented; new drug brands should be introduced to
promote the production of essential medicines; and strategies such as
government–private sector cooperation should be adopted.
The Union minister further
highlighted that human resource development should be continuously pursued to
improve product quality, increase production, and maximize the use of
equipment. Factory officials should regularly review daily operations, work to address
weaknesses and build on strengths, and employees should strive to meet the
production targets for the financial year.
