YANGON Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein visited Hlegu, Taikkyi, and Hmawby townships to inspect the state of agriculture and livestock activities on 9 August.
First,
Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein inspected 11.71 acres of farmland
belonging to farmer U Aung Lwin in Thanapyin Village-tract, Hlegu Township,
where natural and pearl fertilizers were being applied, irrigation was powered
by solar powered a six-inch diameter water pump, and fish amino acid foliar
fertilizer and EM Bokashi compost were displayed.
He
observed the combined use of natural and chemical fertilizers on a 20-acre
farmland of farmer U Kyaw Win Aung in Gyobyu Village-tract, Taikkyi Township,
distributed seeds for cash crop production, inspected new rice varieties
including Aung Naing Toe, Yezin Pawsan (1), Pawsan (2), Pawsanyin, as well as
older varieties like Yekyi Pawsan and Pyapon Baykya displayed by the Department
of Agriculture.
Afterwards,
he also visited U Myo Naing’s duck farm in Yanlonnaing Village, Taikkyi
Township, to look into the commercial layer duck raising operation, which includes
5,000 adult ducks and 6,000 ducklings, as well as the 15,000 layer ducks raised
at the
farm
of Supreme Development Co Ltd. Water supply process was inspected at
Thanatchaung Dam near the livestock zone in Taikkyi Township, including
functions of water storage and capacity, the use of machinery to maintain a clean
and attractive dam environment, and the construction of fish ponds and duck
farms nearby; necessary measures were then coordinated with the officials.
Afterwards,
the Chief Minister visited the 10-acre paddy farm of Daw Aye Aye Paing in
Nyaungkon
Village, Hmawby Township, where weeds were being removed to cultivate rainfed
paddy and fertilizer was beingapplied.
