Use of Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine demonstrated in Taninthayi Region

In the upcoming multiparty democratic general elections, the use of the Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine (MEVM) will help eliminate issues such as invalid ballots, delays in vote counting, and numerical errors, said Chief Minister of Taninthayi Region U Myat Ko at the ceremony to launch the trainer course of using MEVM at the city hall in Dawei yesterday morning.

He added that this will enable the announcement of accurate and reliable election results within a short period of time. As a result, disputes, electoral fraud, and irregularities can be prevented, leading to a more transparent, fair, and dignified election process.

The Chief Minister stressed that trainees have to try hard to thoroughly understand, follow, and master the use of the voting machine, so that they can effectively and clearly conduct cascade training sessions for polling station officers, deputy polling station officers, and those responsible for operating and supervising the machines during the election.

Taninthayi Region Election Sub-commission held the demonstration on use of MEVM and exercising practices of using the machine.

Member of the Union Election Commission U Ko Ko Lwin made a speech while Deputy Director-General U Nyi Nyi Lwin of the UEC Office explained use of the machine. The Chief Minister, the Chief Justice of the Regional High Court and regional ministers participated in the demonstration of using the machine in voting.

The UEC member and technicians will give training to 80 trainees to use the MEVM till 8 July.
