A total of 84,135 domestic and foreign tourists visited Ngwehsaung Beach in Pathein Township from January to the end of April 2025, according to U Soe Win, Assistant Director of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism for Ayeyawady Region.
In
January 2025, Ngwesaung Beach welcomed 27,786 domestic and 2,100 foreign
tourists, totalling 29,886 visitors, while in February, it received 9,535
domestic and 1,199 foreign tourists, totalling 10,734. In March, 30,727
domestic and 1,006 foreign tourists visited Ngwehsaung Beach, totalling 31,733,
while in April, 11,228 domestic and 554 foreign tourists visited, bringing the
total to 11,782.
“Over
the four-month period, more than 84,000 tourists visited, averaging nearly 500
visitors per day,” said U Soe Win.
Domestic
tourists visiting Ngwehsaung Beach often explore nearby destinations in Pathein
Township, such as Chithumya (Lovers) Island, 19th-Mile Elephant
Camp, Moemaka Elephant Camp, and Thazin Village.
Ngwehsaung
Beach offers a safe and peaceful environment for beachgoers to relax and
unwind, along with services such as bicycle rentals, motorboat rentals, and
horse riding. Market stalls are also available, offering local food, household
items, and souvenirs.
Currently,
Ngwehsaung Beach features 32 hotels and five guesthouses licensed by the
Directorate of Hotels and Tourism, offering a total of 1,861 rooms for
tourists.
