UNION MINISTER for Information U Maung Maung Ohn visited the Sitagu International Buddhist Academy yesterday afternoon, where he inspected its facilities, and proceeded to Mingala Taungnyunt Township to observe the progress of the Sarso Beikman building.
During his visit to the academy,
the Union minister paid homage to Sitagu Sayadaw Abhidhaja Maharatthaguru
Abhidhaja Aggamaha Saddhammajotika Aggamaha Pandita Bhaddanta Nyanissara,
Chancellor of Sitagu International Buddhist Academies and Shwegyin Sangharaja,
and offered donations. He toured key facilities, including the Seminar Hall and
the Eye Surgical Operation Theatre. He also consoled patients receiving
treatment at the Sitagu Eye Hospital.
He inspected the construction site
of the Sarso Beikman building on Bo Min Khaung Street. The project director
from Myanmar Land & Development Ltd reported on the design, land
excavation, and site preparation. The monument, supported by the Indian
government, is being built as a symbol of India-Myanmar cultural and literary
ties. The Union minister stressed the importance of ensuring high-quality
construction following the Prime Minister’s guidance. He reviewed a 3D scale
model of the building.
The Sarso Beikman building, part of
a two-year project, is being constructed on a 2.18- acre plot in Mingala
Taungnyunt Township. The three-storey reinforced concrete structure will
measure 160 feet in length, 140 feet in width, and 57 feet and 8 inches in
height.
