DEPUTY Minister for Labour U Win Shein inspected skills assessment for the Hotel Waiter (Waiting Staff) Level 1 at the Sanon Assessment Centre in Ward 3, Pyusawhti Road, NyaungU Township, yesterday.
In meeting with hoteliers and officials, the Deputy Minister stated that the National Skills Standards Authority (NSSA) is developing skill standards for workforce development, including skill evaluation and certification issuance. In the hotels and tourism sector, professional standards for 18 job types have been approved: eight jobs each at the level 1 and 2, and two jobs at the level 3, totalling 18. Since 2014, skill certificates have been issued to 1,485 individuals in recognition of the specified qualifications in three job categories: hotel waiters, housekeeping, and reception occupations.
He also encouraged officials from the Sanon Assessment Centre to continuously participate in the NSSA process to create opportunities for hotel job seekers by conducting training and skill testing.
