Nay Pyi Taw Council hosts 9,000 light offerings at Maravijaya

 



In a grand celebration held on the evening of 13 October 2024, the Nay Pyi Taw Council, led by various dignitaries, organized an impressive event featuring the lighting of 9,000 lamps and the launching of hot-air balloons in deep devotion to the revered Maravijaya Buddha Image, located within the Buddha Park in the Dekkhinathiri township of Nay Pyi Taw.

This ceremonial occasion took place in conjunction with the full moon of Thadingyut, which holds significant spiritual importance for Buddhists. Notable number of attendees included Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin and officials.

Monks, nuns, and locals from diverse backgrounds gathered to witness the lighting of the lamps and the launching of the lanterns, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere. Visitors were seen peacefully exploring the Maravijaya Buddha Image, Gandakuti, Thudhmma public rest hall, the Musleinda Lake and Dragon Pagoda, Water Fountain Park, the Maravijaya Monastery, and other religious edifices.

The event featured solemn ceremonies where attendees engaged in chanting and offered their prayers while lighting lamps and launching hot-air balloons, celebrating the auspicious occasion with tranquillity and reverence.
