nine-member Buddhist delegation, led by Chairman of the State Sangha Maha
Nayaka Committee and Presiding Patron of the Thanlyin Minkyaung Pahtamapyan
Buddhism Learning Centre, Aggamahapandita Aggamaha Saddhammajotikadhaja Dr
Bhaddanta Candima Bhivamsa, along with Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs
and Culture U Aye Tun, attended the 2024 Sixth World Buddhist Forum held in
Ningbo, People’s Republic of China, and returned to Myanmar yesterday.
During the
tour, the delegation attended the forum from 15 to 17 October and met with the
Buddhist Association of China, led by Chair monk Yan Jue, at the Howard Johnson
Hotel in Ningbo, China.
In the
meeting, Yan Jue, the chairman of the Buddhist Association of China, stated
that arrangements would be made to hold Buddhist dialogues between Myanmar and
China and exchange experiences. Dr Bhaddanta Candima Bhivamsa emphasized that
the gathering of Buddhists in China contributes to the development of Buddhism
and expressed the hope of bringing Buddha’s tooth relic to Myanmar at a
relevant time so that the people of Myanmar can pay their respects.
After the
meeting, the deputy minister presented alms to the delegation led by Chair monk
Yan Jue, Patron of the Buddhist Association of China. On 8 October, the deputy
minister and the Myanmar Buddhist delegation met Mr Luo Yu Hai, Vice-Chair of
the China Association for International Friendly Contact, Mr Liu Xiao Ming,
Vice-Chair of the Southern China Association for International Friendly
Contact, and Mr Chen Tao, Chair of the Yunnan Association for International
Friendly Contact, in Beijing, People’s Republic of China. A round of
discussions was held to further develop cultural relations.
