Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn participated in the Thadingyut Festival celebrations held for the families of employees at the Myanma Radio and Television (MRTV) in Tatkon, Nay Pyi Taw, yesterday. The event commenced in the MRTV park, where the Union minister officially opened the celebrations by cutting a ceremonial ribbon.
Following
the inauguration, he ignited candles to mark the start of the Thadingyut
festivities, joyfully engaging with the staff families. As part of the
celebrations, the families released 79 lanterns in honour of MRTV’s 79th
anniversary, which will be observed on 15 February 2025.
The event
featured traditional ethnic food stalls showcasing local culinary delights. The
MRTV modern band also entertained attendees. A singing competition among staff
families highlighted the talents of five top contestants, with awards presented
to the first-, second-, and third-place winners.
Additionally,
the Union minister observed various games involving the staff families and
inaugurated a newly constructed cable bridge adjacent to the MRTV park. He also
visited the MRTV entrance, the main building, and the Diamond Jubilee Museum,
all adorned with colourful lights to celebrate the Thadingyut Festival.
