MoRAC Deputy Minister participates in 32nd ASCC council meeting in Vientiane


A Myanmar delegation led by Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture, Daw Nu Mra Zan, attended the 32nd ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Council Meeting, hosted by the Lao People’s Democratic Republic as the ASEAN alternate Chair. The meeting took place from 25 to 27 September.

Also in attendance were Mrs Sunanesavanh Vignaket, Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of Lao PDR, members of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Council, representatives from Timor-Leste and other ASEAN member states, as well as the ASEAN Secretary-General and Deputy Secretary-General.

During the meeting, participants discussed priorities for implementation in 2024 by the host country, Laos, the progress of drafting strategic plans for the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community post-2025, documents to be submitted for the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits, and reports from previous meetings, including approvals for the 31st ASCC Council.

The deputy minister expressed Myanmar’s full commitment to continue collaborating with ASEAN member countries to realize shared aspirations in line with the strategic directions of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community, while Laos assumes responsibility for the Chairmanship in 2024.

The deputy minister also participated in the launch of the ASEAN Database for Monitoring and Evaluation System (ADME) during the 31st ASCC Council meeting, along with a dinner hosted to commemorate the occasion, featuring Lao traditional songs and dances.

While in Vientiane, the deputy minister, along with representatives from other ASEAN member countries, visited the Vientiane Museum of Contemporary Art (Wooden Museum), That Luang Pagoda, and Ho Pra Keo Temple.
