Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung, accompanied by Deputy Minister U Bo Bo Kyaw, inspected the work processes of the Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department regarding water inflow of dams and drainage system in vicinity areas of Nay Pyi Taw Council Area on 13 September.
First, the Union
minister and party observed the Kintha Dam near Kyaukse village of Tatkon, and
officials reported on the water storage; vast amounts of water flow into the
dam during continuous rainfall, damage and other matters.
Then, the Union
minister instructed officials to work with relevant departmental organizations
to provide the needed assistance for people in flood-affected areas and to
conduct maintenance works.
Although the
Kintha Dam was affected by the flood, only 230 feet out of the whole dam was
destroyed. Some of the farmlands under the dam were damaged, and assistance
will be provided for farmers to use fertilizer fully in the remaining farmlands
to meet the target cultivation. Then, the Union minister conducted field study
trips to the flood-hit areas in irrigated areas by the Yezin Dam.
