THE Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has agreed to the proposed appoint- flood-stricken victims ment of Mr Sofiane Chaib as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar with residence in Hanoi.
Mr Sofiane Chaib
was born on 5 September 1986. He obtained a Diploma from the National School of
Administration of Algiers, a Master’s degree from Jean-Moulin Lyon University,
France, and a Doctorate from the French Institute of Geopolitics, France.
He served in
various positions as Head of Office, Directorate General Europe in the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs from August 2008 to August 2011, as Cabinet Attaché to the Minister of Maghreb
and African Affairs and League of Arab States from August 2015 to May 2017, as
Cabinet Attaché to the
Minister of Foreign Affairs from June 2017 to August 2017, as Counsellor at the
Secretary-General and the Special Envoy in charge of the National Community
Abroad from August 2021 to May 2022, as Deputy Director at International
Economic, Financial and Commercial Affairs, General Directorate of Multilateral
Relations from June 2022 to November 2022, and as Director at Cabinet of the
Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community
Abroad from December 2022 to April 2024. As overseas assignments, he served as
Diplomatic Attaché at the
Embassy of Algeria in Morocco from September 2011 to July 2015 and as First
Secretary at the Embassy of Algeria in Belgium from September 2017 to July
2021. From July 2024 to date, he has been serving as Ambassador of the People’s
Democratic Republic of Algeria to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
