THE
second International Buddhist Media Conclave was held at Vivekananda
International Foundation in New Delhi, India, yesterday.
Delegates
from 18 countries, including a Myanmar delegation led by Director-General U Aye
Kywe of the Information and Public Relations Department, participated in the
conclave.
IBC
Director-General Mr Abhijit Halder, Chair of VIF Mr S Gurumurthy and delegates
delivered opening addresses.
The
conclave focused on the role of media in the 21st century and communications,
mindful communication for conflict avoidance, environmental conservation and
sustainable development, environmental conservation, and the establishment of
Buddhist media networks and Buddhist media social networks. U Ko Ko, Chairman
of Myanmar’s Yangon Media Group, served as a speaker to join the discussion on
the establishment of Buddhist media networks and Buddhist media social
networks.
On
the evening of 10 September, Director-General U Aye Kywe held a talk with IBC
Director-General Mr Abhijit Halder about cooperation with the International
Buddhist Confederation.
The
conclave was attended by host India, Bhutan, Cambodia, Czech Republic,
Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, South Korea, Sri Lanka,
Switzerland, Thailand, the United Kingdom, the United States of America,
Vietnam and Myanmar.
The
conclave was jointly organized by the International Buddhist Confederation
(IBC) and Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF).
