THE Kyaikkhami twenty-eight Buddha statues festival and the festival of pouring water on the banyan tree on Kason full moon day will be held starting from 21 May in Kyaikkhami Town, Mon State.
On 19 May, the
twenty-eight Buddha statues of the Kyaikkhami mid-water pagoda will be publicly
displayed at temporary temples in the wards for obeisance. Subsequently, on the
evening of 21 May, the Buddha statues will be taken for public obeisance throughout
the entire township, as announced by the pagoda festival committee.
The twenty-eight Buddha
statues will be ceremoniously returned to the Kyaikkhami mid-water pagoda.
Additionally, the festival, including the tradition of pouring water on the
banyan tree, will continue on the full moon day of Kason, which falls on 22 May.
The play and drama
stages, as well as the fairgrounds, will be part of the festival.
