VICE-CHAIRMAN of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win addressed the meeting of the scrutinizing committee on awarding titles and medals for 2024 held at the meeting hall of the SAC Chairman yesterday.
In his
address, the Vice-Senior General mentioned that the meeting was convened to
confer titles and medals to individuals who demonstrated excellent performance
in nation-building. They include members of the Sangha who worked tirelessly
for the religion, Tatmadaw members, police force members, and public servants
who sacrificed their self-interests for national peace, stability, and the rule
of law.
He also
acknowledged the efforts of foreign leaders and diplomats in building bridges
between their countries and Myanmar, along with outstanding individuals in
science and the arts. The scrutinizing body would confer these titles in line
with the 2009 regulations for awarding honours, decorations, and medals.
He also
stated that the scrutinizing committee would select recipients from
directors-general and DG-level officials with three to five years of service
following the 2014 amendments to the regulations.
Moreover, he
announced that the meeting would discuss providing financial support to civil
servants who lost their lives or limbs while serving duties under the guidance
of the SAC Chairman and Prime Minister. Based on the meeting’s suggestions, the
Union government would make the final decision, and the SAC would announce the
recipients on 4 January 2024 (Independence Day).
Following
the opening address, Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, Union Minister for Home Affairs and
chairman of the scrutinizing committee, provided a briefing about the
preliminary meetings at different levels. Members of the scrutinizing
committee, Union ministers and their deputies, military officers, and
responsible personnel attended the meeting.
