Land is considered the most essential and fundamental natural resource for human beings and the existence of the social community, said Member of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Defence Admiral Tin Aung San at the fifth meeting of the National Land Utilization Council yesterday morning.
At the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation in Nay Pyi Taw, the Admiral, the National Land Utilization Council Chairman, said that all should notice that land resources are limited natural resources.
Therefore, long-term visions were set to ensure the basic needs of citizens and sustainable development of the country, and the National Land Utilization Policy was drafted with public participation and released in January 2016 to manage the country’s land resources.
Moreover, it should prioritize drafting a National Land Law that has proper coverage of the existing law to develop the social status of all citizens, guarantee the land use permit, protect the environment and cultural heritages, develop the land use that contributes to the highest economic profits and minimizes the impacts on the environment.
The council has already organized a supporting work group under the National Land Law Compilation and Land Management Laws Harmonization Work Committee, and the supporting workgroup also comprises three units.
The Admiral also appreciated the efforts of those participating in drafting a national land law containing 16 Chapters as per the national land utilization policy.
He then urged the lawmakers to complete the law drafting procedures within the set time frame slated from August 2023 to October 2024.
Then, Vice-Chairman of the council Union Minister Lt-Gen Yar Pyae explained the need to follow 12 facts made at the fourth meeting, the condition to revise the national land utilization policy once every five years, systematic state-owned land management and authority conferred under the Land Management Law.
Union ministers, deputy ministers, the Nay Pyi Taw Council chairman and officials reported on the progress of tasks undertaken by relevant work committees, drawing the national land utilization law and management measures.
