MoI UM discusses development of film, theatrical, music industries

UNION Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn attended a meeting regarding film and video censorship at the Film Development Centre in Yangon yesterday.

Speaking at the event, the Union minister highlighted the purpose of meeting with the censorship board to gather advice on managing the film industry in the future.

He also urged the artistes to protect the country as citizens since the clashes occurred in Shan State (North), and the government made efforts not to affect the country’s sovereignty. He talked about the Global Terrorism Index 2022, which mentioned Myanmar.

He continued that all should cooperate more as the literary, film, theatrical and music industries almost return to normal. Action was taken against the publishers since they failed to follow the ethics even though the publishing processes were eased to a certain extent.

Moreover, appropriate censorship rules and regulations are set, and they need to be supervised not to harm the country and people in film production processes.

He then urged the attendees to work without affecting the national interests and openly discuss their difficulties.

After hearing the film industry development activities briefed by Myanmar Motion Pictures Organization Chairman U Kyi Soe Tun, directors, broadcasters and Daw Swe Zin Htike, the Union minister concluded the meeting.
