ACCORDING to the Department of Archaeology and National Museum (Bagan Branch) under the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, seven new destinations will be developed for both local and foreign tourists.
The seven new tours include the
Kyaukmyathmaw tour in the Bagan Ancient Cultural Zone, a trip to the rocky lake
on Thetsoe Mountain in the southeast of NyaungU Township, a visit to the 900-year-old
tamarind tree in Zee-O-Hla Village, exploration of the 21-acre Sal Forest
conserved by the Forest Department, a tour of Setsetyo Village in NyaungU
Township, which preserves Myanmar traditional hairstyles called Yaungpaysu for
boys and Sanyitwine for girls (topknot with a circular fringe), a visit to
Yotesone Monastery in Thepyintaw village, located about 16 miles from the
NyaungU-Kyaukpadaung road, a tour of Gemoe Pond in Legwa and Latpanaing
villages in Kyaukpadaung Township and the Mount Popa Tour, situated
approximately 11 miles northeast of Kyaukpadaung Township.
Additionally, visitors can explore
utensils from the Bagan era at the Bagan Ancient National Museum. The museum
features stone inscriptions from the Bagan period, standing Buddha statues,
seated Buddha statues, votive tablets, four-edged daggers, and various weapons
used by kings during the Bagan era. The NyaungU District Directorate of Hotels
& Tourism has also developed hills for viewing the breathtaking beauty of
Bagan’s sunrise and sunset.
